Los Gatos Cycling - Los Gatos Creek Trail

Image
The Los Gatos Creek Trail is a fantastic resource for a ride, offering a mix of paved and unpaved sections that span approximately 11.9 miles one-way from San Jose to the Lexington Reservoir. Here is the current breakdown of the trail as of March 2026: Trail Segments for Cycling Segment Surface Highlights San Jose to Campbell Paved Starts at Meridian Ave. Good for a steady, flat cruise. Campbell to Vasona Paved From Vasona Park to Campbell Park, passes through Los Gatos Creek County Park; very popular and can get crowded on weekends. This is the segment we rode. Around 7km one way. A few up and down hills. Not too bad. Vasona to Downtown LG Paved Scenic lakeside riding; look out for the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad near Oak Meadow.   The Saratoga Creek bike lane and trail system is currently a mix of high-quality paved paths and on-street routes. Although it did not connect all the way to Cupertino, it is not that far. It is primarily used by locals for quick exercise or getting to Murdock Park. The complete loop is 12.5km. You can do a bit of grocery shopping on the way back. Look like there is a planned northbound trail not ready to open yet (below). Current Conditions & Safety Surface: Mostly asphalt and well-maintained. Some smaller neighborhood sections near the southern end (closer to Saratoga/Cupertino) still have gravel patches, so be mindful if you’re on th...
